Urgent Appeal: Help Shield Innocent Children in War-Torn Kyiv

“Mom, we didn’t have to run to the shelter on Friday because Russia decided to take a break from us, and we got a break from them?” — asks a five-year-old from a kindergarten in central Kyiv. This innocent question reflects the harsh reality that Kyiv’s youngest residents face daily.

The Situation Requires Immediate Action

In central Kyiv, there’s a kindergarten where every air raid alert triggers something that should never be part of any child’s life. When the alarm sounds, teachers must wake sleeping children and run with them to a rented basement facility located four buildings away from the kindergarten.

“Mom, it’s so hard to jump out of bed and put on a snowsuit while still sleepy and RUN,” — a child cries on their mother’s shoulder. “Mommy, did you have to run like this when you were little too?”

Why This Matters

Statistics show a disturbing pattern: about 90% of air raid alerts occur precisely when children in kindergartens should be napping. This systematically affects the mental health of young Ukrainians.

Despite the heroic efforts of teachers, who manage to evacuate a group of sleeping children in a record 5 minutes, the situation requires a permanent solution. The kindergarten has available territory where a reliable shelter can be built, which would protect the children and eliminate their need to run across the street during alerts.

What We Can Do Together

We are seeking donors willing to help build a shelter on the kindergarten’s grounds. Every donation is an investment in our children’s safety and psychological well-being.

We guarantee:

  • Complete transparency in the use of funds
  • Professional project management
  • Regular construction progress reports
